"Rosemary's Baby" has always been one of my Mount Rushmore films. It may not be your typical jump-scare horror, but it’s an absolute classic. While I’m generally not a fan of remakes, I have to admit I’m intrigued by the idea of a prequel! Apartment 7A is an upcoming psychological horror film set to premiere on Paramount+ on September 27, 2024. Directed by Natalie Erika James, known for her work on Relic, this film serves as a prequel to the 1968 classic Rosemary's Baby, exploring the dark history of the infamous Bramford building before Rosemary moved in. I’m really curious to see what other dark secrets they uncover in that creepy old building!

Here’s what we know so far: The film stars Julia Garner, fresh off her Emmy-winning performance in Ozark, as a struggling dancer named Terry Gionoffrio. After suffering a devastating injury, Terry is taken in by an older, wealthy couple, played by Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally, who offer her another shot at fame. However, as she settles into her new life, Terry begins to uncover the sinister forces at play within the Bramford. Talk about dancing with the devil!

The film has garnered significant attention not only for its connection to Rosemary's Baby but also for its strong cast and production team. I’m really excited to see that John Krasinski and Michael Bay are among the producers, bringing a high level of expertise in suspense and horror. With names like these attached, it’s bound to be something special!

Filming took place in London, and after wrapping up production in June 2022, the film underwent additional reshoots in 2023 to ensure the best possible result. The movie is expected to build on the slow-burn, atmospheric tension that made Relic such a success, promising a chilling experience for horror fans. I’m ready to be thoroughly creeped out—here’s a sneak peek from Paramount+.
